a large piece of thin plastic-fibre mesh that is spread out underneath the olive-trees so that the tree-harvested olives land onto it during the harvest.

Example

Originally, harvest nets were spread under the tree to catch the falling olives. Many producers are now using plastic covers to cushion the fall and to allow for cleaner, faster gathering.
